12/22/2023 0 Comments Weather forecast snow totalsTemperatures rising into the 30s and increasing relative humidity may curtail snowmaking operations tomorrow into Friday, before another cold shot arrives over the weekend. We may see an inch or two of snowfall followed by light sleet or freezing rain on the hill as temperatures warm aloft. That low will spread some warm air advection ahead of it and bring a wintry mix to the area tomorrow. Looking ahead, temperatures look to stay favorable for snowmaking operations into early tomorrow morning before a weak low pressure system approaches us. We will stay focused in these same areas while temperatures allow. There are also a couple fan guns running over in the Spruce Peak base area. Snowmaking is also taking place throughout the Mansfield base area and at the loads/unloads of the FourRunner Quad and Sunrise Six lifts. Snow guns are currently running on over 2,000 vertical feet of top-to-bottom terrain that includes Upper Lord, Ridgeview, Lower Ridgeview, Lord, North Slope and Lower North Slope. As of midday on Wednesday, we are sitting at 16 degrees at the top of the FourRunner Quad and 28 degrees in the base area. This looks to be a relatively quick shot of very cold air today but these temperatures are excellent for efficient snowmaking production. The coldest air mass of the season has descended on Mount Mansfield and our snowmakers fired up the snow guns last night to add to their previous production from last week.
